CEREMONY OF IGNITION
OF THE GRATEFULNESS LIGHT
WHICH WILL BURN FOREVER
AT THE MONUMENT VOTIVE-LIGHT

Adrian Romulus Calin

The Grand National Lodge of Romania with the mason brothers throughout Romania, over 500 personalities from towns of Transylvania and the whole Romania:  mayors, prefects, professors, culture people, army, church, justice, government, embassies, press and television, children and elder people, alpenhorn players, the mayor of Alba Iulia, Mircea Hava, have ignited the “Monument Votive-light” in memory of our brother, hero and martyr, Horea.
The monument, raised with the contribution of our brothers from the Lodge “Horea, Closca si Crisan” from Alba Iulia: two giant hands of bronze, sustaining a heart from which a light reaches to the skies, a light similar to that from the Unknown Hero Tomb, is placed where the heart of the great Horea’ heart is buried.
It must be known that the Revolution that brought the eradication the feudal order, the annulment of the privileges, the freedom of people, was started by the French Masonry in Transylvania.  The ringleader was Horea, who suffered the supreme punishment at Alba Iulia, in the most horrific way.
The Revolution started through the three principles: Liberty, Equality and Fraternity, a new Era was amplified in France. Samson, the executioner of the French Revolution will bring under the knife of the guillotine, not only kind but also a system.
The beginning of the Revolution in Romania was in Transylvania, when a free man and a brother made the first step. Together with Horea, Closca and Crisan paid with torturing death the prowess of raising the Transylvanians against the order, having in mind to stop the abuse, the exploitation and the contempt of humankind. The Great Revolution, we repeat, was established here.
The place where the votive-light illuminates, will remind the world of the heroes that gave their lives for the people to live in freedom. Might they dry rivers or move mountains, the votive-light will illuminate through time. For us, the Romanians it is a privilege the fact that the Revolution anticipated with five years the Great French Revolution.
The ceremony debuted with an official service made by priests. Then, the Grand Master Brother Viorel Dănacu accompanied by the Pro Grand Master Brother Mircea Chira – through a young boy – fired the undying flame of the “Votive-light Monument”.
There were shared wine mugs and communion bread; the mugs have as inscriptions the flag, the Votive – Light Monument, the insignia of the Great National Lodge of Romania and the ones of the Lodge “Horea, Closca si Crisan” from Alba Iulia.
The manifestations continued with the release of the book “History of Franc Masonry” of Albert Mackey, 2nd edition, at the Ulpia Traiana Restaurant.
The lecturer doctor Nicolae Iuga, from the West University from Arad made a laborious presentation of the editorial release. Glen:  We have today, in front of our very eyes a classic work – “History of Franc Masonry”, translated and edited within the Grand National Lodge of Romania, in the year 6004. Even if this book was elaborated more than one hundred years ago, it is up to date in the contemporary Romania.  It fills a gap in the Romanian Masonic Culture.  The book has intrinsic merits of scientific nature (…)
Being about the operating masonry as permanent historical presence, from the oldest times, its symbols must be explained, and the best explanation is the genetic one, meaning historical (…) saluting once more this memorable editorial event, we must mention that this book, so welcome, is post faced by the doctor Viorel Dănacu, Grand Master of the Grand National Lodge of Romania, a post face written with a very strong personal style and an admirable sense of metaphor, fact that grants a plus of value and taste to the reference text.
According to our long lasting traditions of venerations of our ancestors, the brothers from the Grand National Lodge of Romania organized the ceremony of ignition of the light of gratefulness that will burn forever at the “Votive-Light Monument” in memory of our illustrious ancestors Horea and Closca.
